Pet sales business MINIPET donated two pellet stoves and 200kg of feed to Bandal’s Organic Animal Shelter located in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 4th.

The relationship between MINIPET and Bandal’s Dog Shelter began six years ago when CEO Jong-man Hwang and several employees started a private volunteer activity in a group. During several volunteer activities, they saw dogs that missed opportunities for care and adoption due to lack of interest from people, so they decided to start public volunteering after giving it a lot of thought.

“At first, we were skeptical that MINIPET was doing it for publicity only, and that they would stop coming after once or twice. We also urgently needed feed and supplies for our dogs, so we weren't in a position to figure out whether it was a pet sales business. But it's already been 6 years since then, and they’ve continued to ask about our dogs and visit us all the time. They offer food and grooming services in summer and work on installing plastics as protection against the cold during winter. They also take care of dogs who bite a lot and who are difficult for volunteers to handle and clean the cages, so we really appreciate their efforts regardless of their job,” Director Geum-soon Yu of Bandal’s Dog Shelter said, explaining the shelter’s long relationship with MINIPET.

According to a MINIPET official, a lot of people think of volunteering activity at animal shelters as something big, when in fact, small things like filling the dogs’ bowls with meals and cleaning kennels are the ones that need the most attention. “We thought it would draw attention if it was a pet sales business volunteering at a dog shelter, and we felt that it would be a good opportunity to let everyone know that volunteering is something that anyone can do easily,” he added.

Thanks to the continued interest in Bandal’s Dog Shelter by MINIPET and other shelters, many animals from Bandal’s Dog Shelter have been successfully adopted. From almost 100, only 50 abandoned animals are now left in the shelter.

“We are fully experiencing the critical viewpoint toward a pet sales business’s volunteering service around us. The weight of such view is also something we must bear. But we will stay committed to our work with perseverance as long as the dogs can be adopted by good families like now,” CEO Jong-man Hwang of MINIPET said.

Details of MINIPET’s volunteering service and sponsor can be found on MINIPET’s website.
